Whit & Well Guide to Spring

Happy Spring! I am so excited to welcome the warm weather, especially since I am in the midst of creating a very large garden at my home! I won’t begin planting for two more weeks but stay tuned for that - many farm-to-table recipes to come.

Here is my guide to making the most of this spring season:

Must have  C O O K B O O K S

There are so many incredible cookbooks that have recently launched filled with inspiration for spring-inspired meals. A few of my favorites are:

Simple Cake by Odette Williams

A love letter to the author’s love of cakes. This beautiful book is filled with recipes to make simple and whole ingredient cakes at home and with love. The chocolatey chocolate cake is a dream along with the milk and honey cake.

Love & Lemons Every Day by Jeanine Donofiro

My copy just arrived andI can’t wait to try these plant based recipes from the author of the Love & Lemons blog. The cauliflower steaks with lemon salsa verde and the quinoa stuffed acorn squash are on the top of my to do list.

Where Cooking Begins by Carla Lalli Music

The Food Director from Bon Appetit has published this beautiful book of uncomplicated recipes to make you a great cook. The power pancakes and greek-ish grain salad look inspiring and I can’t wait to try!

As I mentioned, I am currently building an at-home garden which I am SO excited about! I can’t wait to grow a variety of herbs, lettuces, kale, arugula, tomatoes, zucchini, beans, shisito peppers and radishes. I’m hoping for a small flower garden too but baby steps.

What I’m E A T I N G

As I teach my 1:1 health coaching clients, eating seasonally will give you greater nutrient density, help support local farmers and allow you to have a broader diet ( it will expand your palate plus allow a wider range of ingredients). Plus your food will taste the very best! Spring is one of the easiest seasons to add fresh vegetables to all your meals and simply starting a meal with a farmers market salad will add a couple servings of vegetables to your day.
